Teahupo’o, Tahiti

Teahupo’o is sacred.

The power and perfection of this wave draining off the reef is one of the most mesmerizing sights a surfer can witness. Incredible that the wave is set in an area with a Jurassic Park background as well.

The session pictured had six tow teams out, and there were six of us paddle surfing. It was one of those sessions I will never forget.

The guy whose board is getting sucked over the falls was charging the entire session. Luckily for him, he unstrapped his leash before diving under the wave. He is an Australian madman who got blown over the reef and into the lagoon on several intense occasions.

Here’s a long clip I threw together traveling to Tahiti and Moorea. Sorry if it’s redundant and drags a bit; I just learned how to use Final Cut and got carried away.
