Just got back to California from an incredible Hungry Walrus Travel sponsored surf trip to Nicaragua. (Still looking for names for our travel company). We had such a fun group on our awesome adventure down there.
The surf was good during the 11 day trip, with 24hr off-shore wind blowing open perfect little barrels up and down the beach. The lineups were also really uncrowded, and often times our crew was sharing waves without anyone else around.
We stayed right on the river at Playa Colorado, set back 100 yards from the most beautiful beach and best waves in the region.
We connected with our local Hungry Walrus travel guides (Mateo and Buzz) when we flew into Managua, and they styled us out with a comfortable bulletproof (literally) 4×4 truck, set up delicious dinners, and took us down secret tracks that lead to some beautiful beaches, unique hot springs, cool little towns, and a variety of great surf. Mateo and Buzz rule.
Sebastian (friend and travel business partner) and I were really impressed with the surfing progression of the crew after each session. It’s so cool when everyone is surfed-out and surf stoked! Every night we’d grind huge local dinners and laugh hysterically over stories.
Everyone was really stoked on the quality time spent surfing and laughing, and Sebastian and I are psyched our inaugural Hungry Walrus surf trip to Nicaragua was a huge success. We’re hoping to get back down there again real soon!
If the crew reads this – lets play our first Prague gig already! Hope your getting in the water and thanks for all the laughs. Had such an awesome time with you guys.
