Alex Grey and Dave Wassel take us from the anticipation of the swell, through one of the most historic big wave paddle sessions ever. Jaws, Maui, Hawaii. Wassel paddled into what may have been the biggest wave ever caught with two hands.
Dave Wassel’s a legend in Hawaii, and one of the head North Shore Lifeguards. He’s one of the hardest charging surfers in the world, and I’m stoked to get to work with him as a Boatman and Lifeguard on Tavarua Island, Fiji.
Dave’s also a really good freediver and spearfishermen, which probably helps his confidence while being held under water by giant waves like these.
He’ll probably win some awards for this one! Hope so.
