WindanSea beach in La Jolla is a great place to call home. After nine months on the road, it’s nice to show up to beautiful weather, girls, fun waves, happy family/friends, and an awesome job.
Been an added bonus catching some fun waves the first few days back. It’s not 40 foot Cloudbreak, or 15 foot Teahupoo, but it’s fun and a novelty to score north-west swell during the summer in the neighborhood. Stoked to grow up on the heavier waves in Southern California, right down the street from my house.
Privileged to have been asked to take the head-lifeguard position at WindanSea this summer, and honored to have the same solid crew to work with as last season. My family has lived at WindanSea for three generations, so it’s especially rewarding for my co-workers, friends, and I, to do what we can to make a positive impact on the community down there.
The San Diego Lifeguard Service is the most professional and experienced in the world, and I’m psyched to be a part of it. Each year the SD guards save over 1,000 lives. It’s an incredibly gratifying job that I take real seriously.
After surfing Teahupoo for three months straight, it took a little while to get comfortable going right again, and is relieving not having to worry about slamming dry coral reef on every wave.
WindanSea is my lifeblood, nice being home.
