With their custom triple-flange, soft-silicone design for improved comfort and sealing, Mack’s AquaBlock Earplugs are some of the best earplugs on the market for swimming and surfing.
After two gnarly surgeries to remove exostosis (surfer’s ear), which took me out of the water for an entire year (partially due to a mishap under the knife), I finally found an earplug that works.
Mack’s AquaBlock Earplugs cost $2.50 a pair, which is the best quality-to-price ratio ever. I keep them in every wetsuit, boardshort, and pants pocket I own. I also keep them in my car, leash pockets, and backpacks so I never go without them. Using them every time I go in the water has been incredibly beneficial to my health.
It takes a little while to adjust to surfing in AquaBlocks, but after you get used to it you may feel naked without them. I have never had one blow out of my ear during a wipeout, unlike other plugs, and they are pretty comfortable. I also use them for diving and have had great results at depth.
Surfed some really big waves with Keith Malloy and he was wearing them. Jon Roseman, the owner of Tavarua, also uses AquaBlocks every time he surfs and dives. Both of those guys said AquaBlocks were the best earplugs they have ever used and that they trust them in big surf. Lot’s of lifeguards use them on the job as well.
