I’m having a great time balancing surfing with shooting water photography. I’m at a 50/50 surf-to-shoot ratio, which is great because I haven’t burnt-out on either.
It isn’t easy swimming at big Puerto Escondido, especially with an eight-pound camera rig. There are giant sweeping rip currents, shifting peaks, rogue bombs, holes, and shallow sandbars to manage constantly. Those elements make it tough to get good images, but makes the attempt very exciting, and the rewards of getting a photo that much more sweet.
These are a handful from yesterday.
