On Assignment

February 6th, 2015

Hi Everyone,

Many of you have noticed that I haven’t been updating Hungry Walrus lately.

Due to an influx of fine art photography work and a stacked photography assignment list, I’m unable to put the necessary time needed to keep Hungry Walrus up to date.

Huge thanks to each and every one of you who have supported me through the evolution of Hungry Walrus, and please check back in a couple months if you’d like to keep tabs on where I’m at with the site.

Hope you’re scoring and thanks for visiting!

Heavy Waves In Baja

October 15th, 2014

Braking boards and leashes is a testament to the good surf we’ve had lately. Been striking Baja with a couple friends and been getting worked! Caught a couple really good ones in the mix though, stoked to be surfing real waves again!

SurfAid Cup

September 30th, 2014

Just scored perfect Malibu for the SurfAid Cup! It was an awesome team event, which raised over $127,000 for charity. Was honored to participate and had a great time scoring epic waves with the crew!

Chrome Digital Solo Show

September 30th, 2014

Had an awesome time during my solo show at Chrome Digital in Little Italy, San Diego. Huge thanks to everyone who made it out, made it happen, and made some new additions to your art collections!

If you ever print photos, or make prints of anything else, I highly recommend working with the crew at Chrome Digital, they’re the best in the business.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

September 30th, 2014

Last week I was lucky enough to get a job documenting an amazing night hosted by Ronald McDonald House Charities. The evening started with a brilliant auction accompanied by donations which help support children fighting life threatening diseases, and was followed up with many incredible musicians such as Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Cody Lovaas, Pedro, AC, and Emma, to name a few.

Light Test

August 10th, 2014

My sister and brother-in-law were kind enough to model for an underwater light test last night. The test is the first stage in a two month long project I’ll be working on.

Last Nights Sunset

July 27th, 2014

Even though the surf has been really small I’ve been getting in the water everyday… Never know what kind of images you might come out with.

San Diego 6 News

July 15th, 2014

So stoked that San Diego 6 news reached out to me for a story on professional surfing at Windansea. Huge thanks to Neda Iranpour for putting it all together, and for including my art, surfing, and Hungry Walrus in the story.

All I’ve heard are great comments from the community about the production, and the story will certainly help all of the young surfers featured, including 13 year old Tiare Thompson, with their dreams of becoming long-term professional athletes.

Drift Premiere – Bessell Gallery

July 14th, 2014

Had a great solo show at the Bessell Gallery last weekend. It was the premiere of my Drift collection – an abstract look at the ocean after the sunset. Roughly 80 people came through and much of my work sold.

Next weekend I have a show at the Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla, during Pierce Michael Kavanaugh’s world premiere of his film What The Sea Gives Me. Hope to see you there.

The Great Ocean Food Chain

July 14th, 2014

I’ve seen anchovy run three miles along the coast a few times in my life. I was stoked to be on the beach with my camera when they swam through Torrey Pines last week.

It was wonderful to be immersed in all the life out there. Sharks, dolphin, rays, and birds were all focused on hunting the bait which made for an exhilarating experience. It was very difficult to capture the dolphin, which was my goal, because of their rapid speed and hunting technique. They slap the top of the water with their tail, and also work as a team to stir up the sand. confusing the bait.
